Districts Can Easily Create Online Courses

Session Title: Content Creation & Curation: Districts Can Easily Create Online Courses 
Presenter:  Spokane Public Schools 
"The canned courses are never rigorous enough for our kids." -- Spokane has been developing their own courses for over 8 years.

Initial buy-in for Blackboard was through making it the "one-stop shop" -- posting textbook and electronic resources.  Worked with vendors during curriculum adoption process in order to post materials within Bb. Also posted Program Guides, Professional books, etc

 Systematic approach for building rigorous, standard-aligned online courses that are copied and used across the district. By developing your own online courses in Bb, school districts have the flexibility to support virtual, blended, credit retrieval and student support programs cost effectively using the same online content. Spokane also has a consortium agreement with Blackboard.

I requested a copy of their slides, course maps, and checklists.

During Q&A, Michael from Baltimore PS mentioned they purchased a "Master Course Synchronization Tool" building block which allows ability to push out and pull back content to and from the copied courses.
